Agriculture/Agribusiness
Price Incentives to Farmers:
In the past years output from the agricultural sector suffered because there were no incentives for farmers to produce. Rural-urban migration is on the increase as youths move to the urban cities to seek higher-paying white-collar jobs. We will provide incentives to farmers by establishing grain silos, and food storage facilities, setting up tractor rental services in each local government, generous and ample supply of fertilizer and improved seedlings etc. The state will buy back the excess production from the farmers at an incentive price and store during seasons of abundance to service the market during scarcity. By doing that, we will encourage farmers to produce more.
Agro-processing:
The state will intensify its efforts to attract investors in agro-processing, and agribusiness to avoid wastages during periods of abundance.
Support For Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Societies:
The state will encourage cooperative societies without compromising their independence and non-profit nature, by assisting in the training of their members, and improving access to finance.
Preservation Of Indigenous Economic Trees:
The state will commission a project to encourage the conservation of indigenous economic trees (like Palm tree, Ogbono, Udara, Ugba, Achi, Ofor, etc), to explore further economic benefits of the species, generate family revenues, and prevent their extinction.
Agricultural Extension Services:
Use of Agricultural extension services to ensure that agricultural practices in the rural areas are environmentally friendly and economically viable.
