Women Empowerment
I strongly believe in the adage that “you train a woman you train a village”. Empowering our women will form one of the cornerstones of our development programs. From appointment into key political positions, to providing micro credits to support women entrepreneurs, developing mentoring/ support programs for young women to become well-rounded adults, we will take this piece of task seriously.
The Need For Participatory Planning
The state must promote empowerment program as a key strategy for simultaneously addressing both poverty alleviation and women’s
rights. Women must be involved in planning programs that will affect their lives and families placing emphasis on:
• Improving access to reproductive health.
• Increasing women’s income levels and control over income leading to greater levels of economic independence.
• Reducing human trafficking.
• Bringing access to information and possibilities for development of other social and political roles.
• Enhancing women’s participation in state and household decisions.
• Empowering the girl-child and change the perception of a girl-child as a commodity raised for profit-making. Our daughters are not commodities but real blessings to the state. We must give them chance to develop and strive for excellence through education, training, and development opportunities. We will take step to discourage early marriage, prostitution, street trading, etc amongst girls. If we respect them, others will.
